The Problem of Choice

Well I think I've dug myself a nice hole now! It sounds like our RSVP's might be a little slow in coming as everyone is trying to pick 2 songs for the dancefloor!

What a terrible problem to have - I can't wait to see the list of songs we have in May!

Our first RSVP!!

I promise I won't be posting each and everytime we receive another RSVP - but we did get our first one yesterday from my Aunt and Uncle! We've now got a little box on the hutch all ready to collect the others.
We've (well I've) also instigated Wedding Wednesday. As June gets closer there are more and more little things to think of so this will be the day each week when Trav and I can look at our lists and make some decisions, I think it's the perfect balance to save him from hearing about random wedding things constantly and help keep myself sane too.

Mister Postman, look and see

Yay! Our invites were posted on Wednesday and most of our VIC guests received a suprise when they got home from work on Friday. The Queenslanders received theirs yesterday and I even got a couple of calls and texts letting me know.
Now we just wait for those RSVP's to roll in... waiting ... waiting ... waiting... well the cut-off is 1st May so I guess we'll be waiting a while.

In other news JetStar have worked their magic again, changing our flights. Luckily ours was just moved to earlier that morning, not the following day like some others on the same flight. They did this to us last year when they cut our holiday a day short - apparently around this time of year they get shuffled around in the airport and flights from 1st April onwards are subject to change. This happens every six months but has never happened to us on Virgin Blue. Glad we haven't booked our return flights yet...

I love mail!

Our invitations arrived yesterday! The printing is gorgeous and all other projects have been flung aside so that we can prepare these for posting! I was practicing my very best handwriting for the names on the invite. Unfortunately it looks like we won’t have room for the cute little wedding bells stamp I purchased- yet another thing to put on eBay after June! The envelopes are stamped and labeled, RSVP’s are stamped and  the letters are merged and printed, ready to go. I’ll continue naming the invitations this evening then will put everything in envelopes so that when the Telegram postcards arrive next week we’ll just pop one into each envelope ready for posting!

We’ve kept a pretty good spreadsheet of names and addresses and I must have looked at it and checked it a hundred times, but now that we’re getting ready to post everything I can’t help worrying that I’ve still missed a detail - spelling error? New address? That must just be paranoid bride behavior!

I also received some spare fabric from my dress which will be made into the ring cushion – that will be embroidered in the next few days then Marian & Susan will take care of the rest. It was a very exciting mail day!

Postcards and envelopes and letters Oh My!

I'm very excited today - I just ordered our wedding invitations through VistaPrint!! We sent them to our parents for some final feedback and after some tweaking they were ready to order as soon as a good deal came up, which happened yesterday!
I've decided to order some beautiful cream linen envelopes from Amazing Paper as well.
We've got together a good draft of the letter to send along with the invites and RSVPs so I expect we'll be sending them out in early February as planned.

This is getting really real now.

Another sweet suggestion was to include a postcard for anyone who won't be attending the event, but would like to write a message to be read out at the reception - so now I'm off to design this one! Guests will be invited to send this back to our parents by the RSVP date.

I also stopped in at Beachhouse Boulevard at Spotswood yesterday to select a round craft punch for the clear monogram labels I'm making for the champagne stopper favours.

And that brings me to today's triumph - I've made my own twine monogram following Brianna Nichole's tutorials - that's right, I can use Photoshop! My list of newly acquired skills is growing very quickly indeed!

Some exciting bridesmaid news coming shortly...

Life Online

I wouldn't have half my ideas if I didn't have the internet (and of course my gals in the Wedding Central Forum)! Of course we all know it's a great place to find inspiration, but what about sourcing items? And then there's also the deals...oh the deals!!

Tell you what, I know I wouldn't have the same wedding (within the same budget) if it wasn't for my great relationship with the WWW.

Here's a few treasures I've found so far...

This is the stunning hairpiece I bought ... looks expensive doesn't it!

eBay - myfreerange

I found my dream hairstyle right here...

And we're having our Invites, RSVPs and Thank You's printed through Vistaprint - yes their deals really are
that good! Our glossy RSVP postcards were just delivered and they look wonderful...

We'll have the same style invitations but probably printed on the linen stock...

These were the other two photos we chose from...

Lookout

Sugar Wharf

Oh and can't forget the wedding favours for the gals - eBay again! I'll be placing clear stickers printed with our monogram on each one

238 days to go...

Things are moving now! To keep with our broad 'summer holiday' theme, we've designed some old style postcards for invites and RSVP Cards, I''m not putting pictures up yet - it's still a secret!
I've narrowed the Victoria's Secret Convertible bridesmaid dresses down to 3 colours now, Sangria Wine, Blackberry and Berryliscious and sent snapshots to the girls to see what their pick is.
The dresses will be a gift from me and I truly want them to want to wear them again and again. Getting the colour sorted will really help with preparing the rest of the decorations.

I tried making Martha Stewart's Carrick Knot napkin rings last night and they're so easy and effective. Right - time to set up the DIY To Do List

Jan 2010 - Invitations (we're getting them printed by Vistaprint but they'll need the personal touch)
April 2010 - Fan programs (templates from Custom-Programs)
April 2010 - Dress converting - practice practice practice!
May 2010 - Welcome Packs
June 2010 - Napkin knots
June 2010 - Seating cards (well - parasols)

And of course I intend to persuade them with lots of wine, tea and yummy things!

Travis and his mum are suit shopping tomorrow, Marian can hardly wait - hope they check out Travellers Apparel in Collingwood.

One inspired bride...

I didn't ever want to lock the wedding into a theme - but these are the two constant questions I get asked - What's your theme? What are your colours?

But now I think I've got just the right blend.

I needed something portable - don't want to be lugging tin buckets or elaborate candleabra's up in our luggage and I don't like the thought of just hiring it all. So paper will be my friend.  I've always liked the look of paper lanterns bobbing in the breeze and they'll definitely look the part at Lure Restaurant - so why not expand on this idea bit then?
I love these instead of the traditional pew bows - maybe white lanterns with deep pink or purple ribbons?

And then at the reception...

This can keep the summer holiday mood we want to create without being too strict, and for the reception decorations...

I love these colours together too!
We'll also have parasols for the photos - I can imagine it already...
